Cho Daeseong, Truls Moregard Shine in Opening Round of WTT Champions Macao 2024

The WTT Champions Macao 2024, presented by Galaxy Entertainment Group, has kicked off with notable intensity at the Macao East Asian Games Dome. On Monday afternoon, Cho Daeseong achieved a significant victory over Darko Jorgic, with scores of 8-11, 11-8, 11-5, and 11-4. This match was their second meeting in their international careers and the first at a WTT event. Cho, who had previously lost to Jorgic, made a strong comeback by turning the tide in the latter part of the match, showcasing his ability to adapt and overcome early setbacks.

 

Truls Moregard also displayed resilience by recovering from an initial deficit to extend his winning record against Shunsuke Togami to 4-1. Moregard managed to prevail over Togami in four games (5-11, 11-8, 11-8, 11-9), despite a challenging start. The Paris 2024 silver medallist expressed his satisfaction with advancing and remains focused on further success in Macao, reflecting on his past experience and preparing for a potentially tough matchup in the next round.

 

In the Women's Singles, Joo Cheonhui emerged victorious against Suh Hyo Won, winning in straight games with scores of 11-4, 13-11, and 14-12. Orawan Paranang also made a strong impression on her WTT Champions Macao debut, securing a hard-fought win against Doo Hoi Kem with a score of 3-2 (15-17, 11-6, 11-7, 7-11, 11-8). Both players have set the stage for an exciting continuation of the tournament.
