China Smash 2024: Day 4 Brings Exciting Matchups in Beijing

It's Day 4 of the China Smash 2024, presented by Zhonghui Life, and the excitement is palpable in Beijing as the competition heats up at Shougang Park. With an exciting lineup of matches scheduled, fans are eager to see how the players will perform in this high-stakes tournament.

 

In the women's singles round of 32, Chen Xingtong of China will take on Hong Kong's Doo Hoi Kem. This matchup marks a renewal of their rivalry after a six-year break, with Chen looking to extend her winning streak against Doo to seven matches.

 

Chen has been in impressive form this season, having recently claimed the title at the WTT Contender Taiyuan and reaching the semifinals at the Singapore Smash. Meanwhile, Doo, a former World No. 7, aims to secure her first round of 16 spot at a WTT Grand Smash event. The men's singles round of 32 features a compelling clash between Germany's Dimitrij Ovtcharov and China's Zhou Qihao. Ovtcharov, a former World No. 1, is in search of his first victory against Zhou, who holds a 3-0 lead in their head-to-head matchups. Despite Ovtcharov’s higher world ranking, Zhou's previous victories, including their last encounter in Lanzhou where he won 3-1, create a significant challenge for the German player.

 

 As both competitors aim to make their mark in this prestigious tournament, it will be interesting to see if Ovtcharov can finally tip the scales in his favor or if Zhou will continue his impressive run on home soil.
