The cinch Championships at the Queen's Club saw some thrilling matches in the first round. Carlos Alcaraz staged an impressive comeback against Arthur Rinderknech to secure his first win at the tournament.
After dropping the first set, the young Spaniard found his rhythm and eventually won 4-6, 7-5, 7-6(3). Alcaraz's victory sets up an exciting second-round clash with Jiri Lehecka.
Holger Rune, making his tournament debut, displayed great resilience in his match against Maxime Cressy.
Coming from behind, Rune won the first set in a tie-break and sealed his spot in the second round with another tie-break win in the second set. He will face Great Britain's Ryan Peniston in the next round.
However, it was a disappointing day for Andy Murray, who suffered a defeat at the hands of Alex De Minaur, losing 6-3, 6-1.
Murray's recent winning streak came to an end against the world No. 18. Liam Broady, another British player, also fell short, losing to Adrian Mannarino 1-6, 6-4, 6-3.
In other matches, Frances Tiafoe, Taylor Fritz, and Grigor Dimitrov emerged victorious with straight-set wins. Dan Evans and Lloyd Glasspool triumphed in an all-British doubles battle against Broady and Jonny O'Mara.
The first round of the cinch Championships delivered thrilling encounters and set the stage for compelling matches in the next rounds.
