By making advancement at the Miami Open, Carlos Alcaraz and Elena Rybakina kept their chances of pulling off the uncommon "Sunshine Double" alive.
Rybakina defeated Jessica Pegula, the third-ranked player in the world, to go to the women's final. 7-6 (7-3) 6-4.
In order to go to the men's semi-finals, world number one Alcaraz defeated American ninth seed Taylor Fritz 6-4, 6-2.
They hope to become the eighth man and fifth woman, respectively, to win the Miami title after winning in Indian Wells.
Rybakina, the Wimbledon winner from Kazakhstan, has won 13 straight games after defeating Aryna Sabalenka in the Indian Wells final last week.
In the final on Saturday, she'll either face Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic or Sorana Cirstea of Romania.
Alcaraz, the defending men's champion, must win the match in order to maintain his position atop the rankings. On Friday, he will face Italian Jannick Sinner in the round of 16 after their five-hour-long quarterfinal match at the US Open.
The two will battle for the sixth time in what is regarded as one of the best developing rivalries in men's soccer. The Spaniard now holds a 3-2 head-to-head advantage.
