British players Samuel, Broom, Harris win Wimbledon 2023 qualifying round

In the first qualifying round of Wimbledon 2023, a group of British players, including Johannus Monday, Toby Samuel, Charles Broom, and Billy Harris, emerged victorious, putting them two rounds away from earning spots in the main draw.
21-year-old Monday made a strong comeback after losing the first set, defeating Croatia's Mili Poljicak 3-6, 7-6 (7-4), 6-3. Samuel, also a wild card entry at 20 years old, overcame a significant ranking difference to beat Antoine Bellier 6-4, 7-6 (7-5).
Broom secured a 6-4, 6-7 (4-7), 6-3 victory against Alessandro Giannessi, while Harris fought back from a set down to defeat Alexander Ritschard 5-7, 7-6 (7-5), 6-2.
However, Stuart Parker lost to seventh seed James Duckworth after winning the first set, with the match ending 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 in Duckworth's favor. Harry Wendelken was also defeated, with Italian Matteo Gigante winning 6-3, 7-6 (7-6).
Daniel Cox started strong by taking the opening set against Federico Gaio but ultimately lost 2-6, 7-6 (7-2), 7-5. Meanwhile, Luca Pow suffered a 6-3, 6-1 defeat at the hands of Gijs Brouwer from the Netherlands.
To secure a spot in the main draw, players must win three matches. Monday, Samuel, Broom, and Harris will continue their campaign on Wednesday, with the final qualifying round scheduled for Thursday.
