ATP Mubadala Citi Open begins main draw play with Liudmila Samsonova vs. Danielle Collins

The Mubadala Citi Open is set to begin with an exciting lineup on the first day of main draw play. Tennis fans can look forward to witnessing some top-notch matches featuring renowned players.
 
The defending women's champion, Liudmila Samsonova, will kick off the action on Stadium Court as she faces Danielle Collins, a 2021 Australian Open finalist and University of Virginia alum. Samsonova aims to make history by becoming the first back-to-back WTA champion in Washington since 2011.
 
The primetime match on Stadium Court will be a blockbuster encounter between former World No.3 Elina Svitolina and Viktoria Azarenka. These two highly accomplished players will undoubtedly deliver an intense and competitive showdown.
 
Adding to the excitement, Gael Monfils, who won the DC title in 2016, makes a return after six years to face American qualifier Bjorn Fratangelo in the nightcap on Stadium Court.

The local favorite, Hailey Baptiste, who grew up near the Rock Creek Tennis Center, secured her spot in the main draw and will face the formidable Karolina Pliskova in the opening round.
 
Canadian star Leyla Fernandez also qualified for the main draw and will take on American Bernarda Pera.
