Aryna Sabalenka Defeats Coco Gauff in Straight Sets to Go to the Semifinals

Aryna Sabalenka, the second-ranked player in the world, defeated Coco Gauff handily in the Indian Wells quarterfinals.

Gauff struggled to make a difference as Sabalenka's strong groundstrokes kept her on the attack for the whole of the match, costing him a bagel in the second set.

Maria Sakkari or Petro Kvitova will be Sabalenka's next opponent in the semifinals on Thursday in California.
Aryna Sabalenka defeated local favorite Coco Gauff 6-4, 6-0 to advance to the Indian Wells semi-finals.

Gauff made some important errors and was helpless to counter the strength of the Australian Open champion, but Sabalenka produced some excellent tennis in the process.

“You guys wanted to send me home, I know!” After the game, Sabalenka made lighthearted remarks to the audience.
“It was a tough match, she’s a great player and I’m just super happy with the win. I want to stay here as long as I can just to enjoy the atmosphere.
“I believe in myself and know I have to bring my best game, do everything I can no matter what and that’s a great feeling. Hopefully I can keep it up.”

On Thursday, Sabalenka will face Maria Sakkari or Petra Kvitova in the semifinals.
