At the Miami Open, Andy Murray lost in the first round, following Emma Raducanu. The 35-year-old was defeated 6-4, 7-5 by Serbia's Dusan Lajovic in the two players' first ATP Tour encounter. Kyle Edmund was also ousted on a difficult day for British players.
After losing to Dusan Lajovic in straight sets in the opening round of the Miami Open, Andy Murray joined fellow Brit Emma Raducanu in exiting the tournament.
A few hours earlier, Raducanu had been ousted from the women's competition after losing to Bianca Andreescu in three sets. The 35-year-old went on to lose to his Serb opponent by scores of 6-4, 7-5.
Murray was hoping to get back on track after losing to Jack Draper in the third round at Indian Wells the previous week, but he stumbled against the world No. 76, who won in just under 90 minutes.
World No. 52 In the first set, Murray missed break-point chances, slipped to 4-3 deficit after being broken himself, and Lajovic finished up the set in 42 minutes.
Murray broke back after Lajovic served for the match at 5-4 in the second set, but the Scotsman dropped his subsequent service game, allowing his opponent to complete his first hard-court victory of the 2023 campaign.
