Some international Table Tennis players participating in the ongoing WTT Contender in Lagos have commended the organizers as well as the hospitality of Nigerians.

Players XU Huiyao and LUO Jiecheng made these comments at the World Table Tennis Contender in Lagos at the Molade Okoya Thomas Indoor Hall, Teslim Balogun Stadium.

The $75,000 U.S. dollar prize competition, which began on June 19, will end on June 23.

They mentioned that their experience in Nigeria so far has been wonderful, adding that the atmosphere has been very good for them.

They also noted that it was their first time in Nigeria and they found the people very welcoming.

They started from the qualification matches and progressed in their game despite challenges.

Their perseverance and training skills enabled them to win their games. They expressed happiness and stated that they would be better prepared for subsequent games.

Francis Antwi, an international table tennis player from Ghana who competed in the men's singles, said he is proud to be in Lagos playing in the WTT Contender.

"This is my second time at the event, and I just won my first match in the qualifying round 3-0. I am very happy."

"I am proud to participate in such a nice event and to have won my first-round match. Now I will focus on training and waiting for my next opponent."

"My opponent could be from China or anywhere, so I am focused on training for the next round."

Similarly, Mustapha Mustapha, a Nigerian table tennis player, said it was his second time competing in the WTT Contender in Lagos.

"Last year, I lost in the first round of the qualifying draw, and I told myself that this year had to be better."

"I couldn't lose in the first round last year and then come back to lose in the first round again."

"Even though I had a tough match against my junior brother, who is also very good, I think it was a 50/50 match. It was just hard luck for me, and I hope to perform better."

"I am looking forward to advancing to the main draw. I have one more match to win against a player from Ghana. I wish myself luck because I know I will do better."
