The Nigeria Tennis Federation has announced its carefully selected five-man squad set to represent the nation at the 2024 Davis Cup Africa Group III qualifying event, scheduled to take place next month in Abuja. Leading the charge is Nigeria's top-ranked player, David Ekpeyong, whose exceptional skills and experience are expected to bolster the team's performance. Joining him is Christopher Bulus, based in the United States, who made a remarkable undefeated debut in the Davis Cup last year, showcasing his prowess on the international stage.

Adding depth to the squad is the seasoned player Uche Oparaoji, whose wealth of experience will provide stability and strategic insights during the competition. Michael Emmanuel, known for his resilience and tactical acumen, brings another layer of competitiveness to the team. Rounding out the lineup is Daniel Adeleye, Nigeria's highest-ranked junior player, whose inclusion underscores the federation's commitment to nurturing young talent and ensuring a balanced team composition.

Under the guidance of Coach Benson Ishicheli, who successfully led Nigeria's ascent from Group IV in Rwanda, the team is poised to build on their previous success and advance to World Group II. Ishicheli's tactical expertise and leadership will be pivotal in steering the team through the challenges of the Africa Group III Qualifying event, fostering cohesion and maximizing each player's potential on the court.

The Africa Group III Qualifying matches are scheduled to commence from 15th to 20th July 2024, set against the backdrop of the prestigious tennis facilities at the National Stadium in Abuja. This pivotal event not only serves as a platform for intense competition but also represents an opportunity for Nigeria to showcase its tennis prowess on home soil, aiming to secure a coveted spot in the higher echelons of Davis Cup competition.

As preparations intensify, the Nigerian team is focused on rigorous training sessions and strategic planning to optimize their chances of success. With a blend of seasoned veterans and promising young talent, coupled with Ishicheli's astute leadership, the squad is determined to make a significant impact in the upcoming qualifiers. The support of tennis enthusiasts and the entire nation will undoubtedly serve as a source of motivation as Nigeria endeavors to elevate its standing in the global tennis arena through this prestigious tournament.
