The 2023 Wimbledon tournament begins with Novak Djokovic, the defending men's singles champion, taking the Centre Court stage in the opening match. Djokovic, aiming for his eighth Wimbledon title to equal the record, will face Argentina's Pedro Cachin.
Unfortunately, last year's runner-up Nick Kyrgios has withdrawn from the tournament due to a wrist injury and will not compete against Belgium's David Goffin as scheduled.
On Court One, the action kicks off with women's world number one and top seed Iga Swiatek facing China's Zhu Lin. Later, seventh seed Coco Gauff, fresh from her semifinal appearance in Eastbourne, will go head-to-head against fellow American and former Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin in the final match on Court One.
Centre Court will showcase an intriguing match between five-time champion Venus Williams, making her 24th appearance in the women's singles at Wimbledon at the age of 43, and 2019 semifinalist Elina Svitolina. The day's play on Centre Court will conclude with the match between men's eighth seed Jannik Sinner and Argentina's Juan Manuel Cerundolo.
Additionally, six British players will be in action on the first day, including Dan Evans and Katie Swan, who will compete in their respective first-round matches on Court Two.
