Young table tennis talents prepare to shine at WTT Youth Star Contender Doha 2023

The WTT Youth Star Contender Doha 2023 is set to take place from October 10 to 14 at the Aspire Ladies Sports Hall, featuring an impressive total prize pool of USD 15,000 for young table tennis talents. Among the top seeds, Kao Cheng-Jui and Hana Goda lead the U19 Boys' and Girls' Singles categories, respectively. Both are also set to compete at the WTT Champions Frankfurt at the end of the month.
 
Kao Cheng-Jui has had a remarkable year, rising from outside the Top 100 to No. 30 in the Men's Singles ranking. His breakthrough came when he reached the final at WTT Contender Lima 2023. Adding to his achievements, he secured a U19 title at WTT Youth Star Contender Podgorica 2023, making him the favorite for the title in Doha.
 
Quek Izaac is another noteworthy contender in the U19 Boys' Singles. The Singaporean has been on a winning streak in 2023, reaching the Men's Singles round of 16 at Singapore Smash and defeating a Top 20 player in a dramatic comeback. His excellent form suggests he could claim his second U19 title of the year.
 
In the U19 Girls' Singles, Hana Goda is the top seed, and she's been making her mark in the WTT Youth Series with two U19 Girls' Singles titles this year. She is also set to compete at WTT Champions Frankfurt and aims to add a WTT Youth Star Contender trophy to her collection. Yuna Ojio, with her unorthodox katana grip, is the second seed and has been a dominant force in the U19 Girls' Singles category, winning multiple titles in 2023.
 
Doha, with its futuristic skyline and a blend of tradition and modernity, provides a unique backdrop for the WTT Youth Star Contender event, showcasing Qatar's passion for sports and its role as a global sporting event host.
