The 10th Nigerian-British Golf Tournament, which had Greenwich Merchant Bank as its headline sponsor, was played over 18 holes.

The winners in each category are: Yoke Solutions, who emerged as the winner with 116 points, while ADL Solutions came second with 109 points.

Dormai Sign Limited, with 105 points, came third, while Project Limited placed fourth.

Gbenga Ayodele, with an 11 Handicap, won the male category with 35 points.

The Nearest to the Pin (Male) was won by Alhaji Abubakar, while the Longest Drive (Male) was won by Jide Oseni, and the Longest Drive (Female) was won by Lady Linday Obieze.

The Lagos State Governor, Olusola Sanwo-Olu, and the President of the Nigerian-British Chamber of Commerce, Ray Atelly, in their speeches, reiterated the importance of sports as a catalyst for driving business activities.

Sanwo-Olu and Atelly made these remarks at the dinner and award night of the Golf Tournament, held at the Ikeja Golf Club in Lagos.

Gov. Sanwo-Olu, represented by the Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade and Investment (MCCTI), Folashade Ambrose-Medebem, in her address, commended the trade facilitation between Nigeria and the U.K.

"It's a great pleasure to witness the 10th edition of the Nigerian-British Golf Tournament. The tournament represents much more than a sporting event," she said.

"It exemplifies the lasting bond and the great commitment to collaboration between Nigeria and the United Kingdom."

"We come together to celebrate the champions of today's tournament and also the strength of partnerships that have thrived for over 46 years," she added.

"Since its founding, the Nigerian-British Chamber of Commerce has demonstrated unwavering dedication to fostering goodwill and economic cooperation between the two nations," Ambrose-Medebem continued.

She further added, "The Chamber's impressive membership of over 400 diverse enterprises highlights the depth and breadth of the alliance."

"The sectors, spanning from finance and technology to manufacturing and trade, work together to bring leaders and innovators across borders, facilitating opportunities."

"These are what drive economic growth, create jobs, and empower citizens to thrive in a dynamic global marketplace."

"The NBCC Golf Tournament is a shining example of the Chamber’s role in bringing people together, fostering friendship, and encouraging genuine connections in a relaxed and truly enjoyable atmosphere."

"Events like this allow us to step away from daily tasks, engage with one another, and explore opportunities for collaboration," she concluded.

Ambrose-Medebem also emphasized that Lagos, in its continued journey toward a globally competitive economy, values the partnerships that sporting activities bring.

"We understand the importance of partnerships and connections. Our government remains committed to creating an environment that encourages international investments."

"We also support business growth and nurture innovations through initiatives in infrastructure, education, digital transformation, and ease of doing business."

"We are building a Lagos that offers ample opportunities for collaboration and success," she said.

The NBCC President, Atelly, remarked that the organization remains committed to the opportunities the competition brings.

"For the second year in a row, we are back at the Ikeja Golf Club for the tournament. Last year, I promised that we would return, and this year we are back for the 10th edition to keep our promise."

"The presence of the Governor of Lagos State, Olusola Sanwo-Olu, underscores our reason for returning. We thank the governor for not turning down our invitation."

"This tournament could not have taken place without the players. The players deserve an ovation."

"For those who have yet to make up their minds to play golf, they should find a mentor who will help them catch up. They will understand the importance of golf as a sport," he said.

Atelly then encouraged the players to continue aiming higher and to network with one another.

"My advice is that golfers should continue to aim higher and not get discouraged."

"Our Chamber is determined to provide opportunities like this for business leaders to take time out of their busy schedules to exercise their bodies and minds, and leverage sports to network."

"This is what we have shared over the years and will continue to share in the years to come. The game of golf helps to evaluate oneself. The shots teach focus on goals, and a missed shot challenges you to manage anger and control nerves."

"When a business mind is focused, the shot in golf will follow suit. We are all on our way to higher places, so we should find time to make friends," he concluded.
