Xander Schauffele's victory at the PGA Championship, along with the $3.33 million prize, propelled him to No. 2 in the latest Official World Golf Rankings on Monday.
Schauffele, 30, clinched his win at Valhalla Country Club in Louisville, Kentucky, by birdieing the final hole, narrowly defeating Bryson DeChambeau by one stroke.
This triumph marks the highest ranking of Schauffele's career, pushing Rory McIlroy of Northern Ireland down to third place, while Scottie Scheffler continues to hold the top spot. Meanwhile, DeChambeau, who competes in LIV Golf, jumped 89 spots from 124th to 35th in the world rankings.
Due to the lack of ranking points from LIV events, DeChambeau began the year at No. 155 and was ranked 210th before tying for sixth at the Masters. The PGA Championship also saw Thomas Detry of Belgium and Justin Rose of England move into the top 60, securing their spots for the US Open, which will be held June 13-16 at Pinehurst No. 2 in North Carolina. Detry's fourth-place tie elevated him from 71st to 54th, while Rose's tie for sixth moved him from 68th to 56th, marking a significant climb for both players.
