Wyndham Clark wins first major title in Los Angeles

Rory McIlroy's quest for a fifth major victory continues as he finished one shot behind Wyndham Clark at the US Open in Los Angeles.
Clark, 29, secured his first major title with a level-par 70, finishing at 10 under and earning the winner's prize of $3.6 million.
Despite feeling at ease during the tournament, Clark acknowledged the challenge of US Opens and expressed confidence in his abilities. Meanwhile, McIlroy, visibly disappointed by another close call in a major, recognized the fine margins involved and remained determined to keep putting himself in contention.
For McIlroy, it has been a nine-year wait since his last major triumph at the 2014 US PGA Championship. Throughout various prestigious courses, including Southern Hills, Torrey Pines, Augusta National, St Andrews, and now Los Angeles Country Club, the Northern Irishman has consistently fallen just short.
With 19 top-10 finishes in majors, including the past five US Opens, McIlroy emphasized the importance of persistently placing himself in such positions, believing that success will eventually come.
Although McIlroy's final round featured only one birdie, one bogey, and 16 pars, he may regret missed opportunities.
The challenging conditions and fast, dried-out greens made putting difficult. A crucial missed birdie putt from four feet on the eighth hole and a messy bogey on the 14th after a plugged approach into a muddy bank hindered his chances.
Despite these setbacks, McIlroy remains determined and committed to his pursuit of another major victory.
