Women's Scottish Open: Celine Boutier wins Women's Scottish Open title, following Evian win
Posted : 07 August 2023
Celine Boutier expressed her amazement at the remarkable turn of events after securing her second consecutive victory at the Women's Scottish Open.
The 29-year-old French golfer clinched a two-stroke victory over South Korea's Kim Hyo-Joo at Dundonald Links in Ayrshire.
Boutier had claimed her first major title just the week prior at the Evian Championship in her home country.
"It's absolutely unbelievable to think that I've managed to win not one, but two tournaments back-to-back," she remarked. "I'm honestly still in shock."
In her final round, Boutier carded a two-under-par 70, finishing the tournament at 15-under 273. She tallied four birdies and two bogeys along the way, securing a prize of £259,000.
Her fifth LPGA Tour triumph marked a significant milestone, as she became the first LPGA golfer since Thailand's Ariya Jutanugarn in 2016 to follow a major championship victory with another win in the next tournament. Additionally, she achieved the distinction of being the first player to win consecutive tournaments on the Tour since Jin Young Ko in 2021 at the Cognizant Founders Cup and BMW Ladies Championship.
Admitting her fatigue earlier in the week, Boutier shared, "I was quite exhausted and was taking it one round at a time, doing my best to get through each day. So, to be in contention over the weekend, especially today, is truly a fantastic outcome."
Among the British competitors, England's Eleanor Givens secured a joint 28th place finish, trailing by 12 strokes, while Gemma Dryburgh was the top Scot, three shots further back in a joint 44th position.
