The president of the Nigeria Cricket Federation, Mr. Uyi Akpata, has stated that the federation is satisfied with the performance of the Yellow Greens despite their elimination from the 2024 International Cricket Council World Cup.
Recall that the Nigeria National Cricket Team, known as the Yellow Greens, participated in the qualifiers in Windhoek, Namibia, as favorites after winning the West African Trophy Tour in Lagos.
However, the results went the wrong way as Nigeria failed to qualify for the Africa slot, facing defeat.
Reacting to the failed attempt and the Yellow Greens' performance, Akpata praised the players for their resilience and believed they would perform better in the future.
"Through our participation, we have announced our arrival as a cricket-playing nation.
"We competed squarely against Kenya, Uganda, and Zimbabwe and lost with respect.
"We beat Tanzania, who were ahead of us, and we were firmly in control of the Rwanda match before rain disrupted it and caused us to share points," he said.
