Jiveshan Pillay and Sinethemba Qeshile put the Dafabet Warriors in a commanding position on the third morning of their CSA 4-Day Series match against the Renault Potchefstroom North West Dragons. The pair guided the team to a score of 113 for 4 at Dafabet St George's Park on Saturday, extending their lead to 172 runs with six wickets still remaining in hand.
The Warriors had batted first, compiling a first innings total of 298 runs, while the Dragons could only manage 239 in their reply. At the end of the break, Qeshile was unbeaten on 38, and Matthew de Villiers was not out on one, with both players still at the crease, poised to further strengthen their position.

Pillay and Qeshile came together early on Saturday morning after Jean du Plessis, who had resumed his innings on 23, fell victim to Migael Pretorius’ bowling. This wicket provided the visitors with a crucial breakthrough, as the Warriors needed someone to anchor their innings following du Plessis’s dismissal.
Pillay, a player from KZN who previously spent time with the Titans, demonstrated his experience by stabilizing the Warriors' innings with a solid performance. He looked well on his way to scoring his fourth half-century but ultimately fell short, getting out to a Wihan Lubbe delivery for a patient 43 runs off 143 balls.
The Dragons’ bowling attack saw Lubbe and Pretorius share the wickets on Saturday morning, each claiming one wicket in the innings. Kerwin Mungroo had already made a significant impact, having taken two wickets for just 17 runs in 13 overs, establishing himself as the leading wicket-taker for the Dragons in the match.
As the game progressed, the Warriors maintained their grip on the contest, with Qeshile continuing to build the score alongside de Villiers. Their partnership was critical in ensuring the home side remained in a strong position, especially after the initial loss of wickets.
The situation left the Dragons looking to regroup and strategize for the remainder of the innings, needing to capitalize on any opportunities to turn the match in their favor. The Warriors, however, appeared determined to build their lead and secure a dominant position as the match unfolded.
