Paul Waring of England and France's Ko Jeong-weon are tied for the lead after the first round of the British Masters. Waring achieved a five-under-par 67 at The Belfry, featuring seven birdies and two bogeys, placing him at the top of the leaderboard.
Tyrrell Hatton, a two-time Ryder Cup winner from England, had a chance to move within one stroke of the lead but bogeyed the final hole. He ended the round with a three-under-par 69, tying for fifth place with several other players, including Jordan Smith, Laurie Canter, and Andrew Wilson from England, along with Scotland's Stephen Gallacher.
Hatton voiced his frustration after missing a short par putt on the last hole despite a stellar bunker shot earlier. He is competing on the DP World Tour after appealing sanctions for participating in LIV Golf events without permission. South Africa's Thriston Lawrence and Spain's Jorge Campillo are just one stroke behind the leaders, both carding rounds of 68.
