Top-ranked Nelly Korda and second-ranked Lilia Vu each secured victories in their foursomes matches, helping the United States establish a 3-1 lead over Europe after the Friday morning session at the Solheim Cup. The Americans, who dominated the first foursomes session in last year's competition, showed strong performance on the back nine at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club, setting up a promising lead before the afternoon's four-ball matches.
The United States is aiming to break their six-year drought and avoid a second consecutive home loss, while Europe, the reigning champions, are seeking an unprecedented fourth consecutive title. Korda and Allisen Corpuz continued their impressive form from Spain, winning their last three holes to defeat Germany's Esther Henseleit and England's Charley Hull 3&2. This victory marked the first time that Korda and Corpuz have won three consecutive foursomes matches together.
In another win, ninth-ranked Rose Zhang and US rookie Lauren Coughlin maintained their lead throughout to beat France's Celine Boutier and Swiss rookie Albane Valenzuela 3&2. Additionally, Vu and US rookie Sarah Schmelzel emerged victorious with a 3&2 win against Spain's Carlota Ciganda and Sweden's Linn Grant, taking control early by winning three of the first four holes.
Europe's sole victory in the morning session came from Sweden's Maja Stark and Denmark's Emily Pedersen, who won 2-up against Ally Ewing and Jennifer Kupcho. Despite their win, Pedersen noted that while they played well, a few mistakes were made. The all-time rivalry currently stands with the United States leading 10-7 with one draw, but Europe has claimed victory in three consecutive tournaments, including the 14-14 draw in Spain last year.
