Tom Kim from South Korea successfully defended his PGA Shriners Children's Open title at TPC Summerlin in Las Vegas, fending off a challenge from Canada's Adam Hadwin in the closing holes. The 21-year-old, who had previously secured a joint second-place finish at this year's Open Championship, delivered an impressive five-under 66 to conclude the tournament at 20 under par.
Kim's performance was sufficient to claim victory by a one-shot margin over Hadwin, marking his third PGA Tour title. The turning point came as Kim sank a 12-foot birdie putt at the 15th hole, while Hadwin's bogey at the 16th proved costly.
Reflecting on his achievement, Kim shared, "It has been a long season. I'm very fortunate to defend. I've learned so much this year. It has been a blessing. It has been very humbling."
Ranked as the world number 16, Kim started strongly with birdies on three of the first four holes but briefly lost the lead due to consecutive bogeys at the fifth and sixth. However, he made a strong recovery with birdies at the ninth, 12th, and 13th holes to regain control.
Additionally, it's worth noting that on Friday, US Solheim Cup star Lexi Thompson narrowly missed the cut on her PGA Tour debut, falling short by three strokes.
