Teqball World Cup Qualifiers: 7 Nigerian states set for battle

The qualifiers to the Teqball World Cup in Thailand later this year is gathering momentum as teams are iching closer to picking the tickets as the semifinalists will emerge today after the quarter final games took center stage yesterday.
Day One actions went underway yesterday in the Men’s singles as States like Plateau, Kwara, Kogi, Delta, Edo, Abia and Bayelsa picked their last 8 tickets.
Plateau State’s Moses Paul Daniel made the quarter final cut on his debut in Teqball by beating Ikowa Chidera in the Round of 16.
In other fixtures, Akwaso Wayoyo of Bayelsa State who is also making his debut in the sport defeated his Taraba state counterpart in three sets.
Having overcome a shaky start, Akwaso kept his composure and capitalized on his opponent’s lack of incisiveness to win the last two sets and ensure a place in the last eight.
Nigeria's number One, Victor Oyemade of Kwara state continued his fine form as he outclassed his opponent Ola Jubril of Bayelsa state to have a safe landing in the quarter finals.
Other athletes who are through to the last eight are: Yahyah Khalid of Delta state, mcblaise Ikedi of Edo state, Enebechukwu Mikel of Delta State, Musa Joshua of Kogi state and Tobi Olawumi of Abia state.
Meanwhile the first rounds in the Women’s singles and Men’s doubles events began on a good note for Team Kwara, Plateau, Edo with a scintillating performance of blended skills in display at the championship.
The second phase is expected to be best of the best to represent Nigeria come November 29th in Thailand.
