14-Year-Old Mojeed Rilwan has won the first bronze medal in Judo at the ongoing 2023 National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State. Mojeed, who competed in the Judo (40 kg) category, defeated Emmanuel Abel from Edo State in the bronze medal contest to set the medal haul for the Gateway State.
The keenly contested fight lasted for 34 minutes, while Mojeed Rilwan came out victorious. Earlier in the day, the state’s female football team qualified for the semi-final after walloping team Adamawa 5-0 in the quarter-final.
Damilola Adeyanju was the cynosure of all eyes at the Ugwashi Uku stadium, where Team Ogun thrashed Adamawa 5-0 in the opening game of the football event at the 7th National Youth Games in Delta State.
Adeyanju scored in the 23rd, 27th, and 87th minutes to propel the Ogun State female football team to a convincing win. Tosin Elijah and Dosunmu Temitope were also on the scoresheet in a game that was largely dominated by the girls from Gateway State.
Team Lagos also thrashed Team Delta 5-0 in their quarterfinal duel. The football team will now lock horns with team Lagos in the semi-final in Ugwashi Uku, Delta State.
