The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), CGC Adewale Adeniyi MFR, has expressed confidence in the volleyball team as they prepare to compete in the upcoming Africa Club Championship.
The tournament is scheduled to take place from April 1 to 14, 2025, at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Package B, in Abuja.
Adeniyi emphasized both the responsibilities of hosting and the team’s determination to excel.
He stated that the team secured its place in the competition following its triumph at the 2024 CGC Volleyball Premier League.
The Customs boss said, “As the defending champions of the CGC Volleyball Premier League, the NCS team has earned its place in this prestigious continental competition.
"We are working to ensure our team is in top condition. They just returned from a training tour, which served as a series of warm-up matches. The team performed excellently, winning all their games.
"I believe we are ready. Nigeria is hosting to win."
The CGC assured that all necessary support and motivation are being provided to the team.
Confident in their abilities, he expressed optimism that they would surpass their performance from four years ago.
He said, “If you all recall, we finished in fourth place at the 2021 African Club Championship, narrowly missing out on third place. It was painful, but the players gave their best.
“With the motivation given to the team, I am optimistic they will surpass their previous records and make the country proud.”
