Taylor Pendrith secured his maiden US PGA Tour victory at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, clinching the title with a birdie on the final hole to finish ahead of Ben Kohles, who suffered a heartbreaking runner-up finish after a bogey on the last.
Kohles, aiming for his first PGA title after an impressive run on the Korn Ferry Tour, had briefly taken the lead with consecutive birdies on the 16th and 17th holes. However, a bogey on the 18th dashed his hopes as Pendrith capitalized on the opportunity, sinking a crucial birdie putt to seal the win.
Pendrith, who remained composed under pressure, reflected on the intensity of the final moments, expressing empathy for Kohles while celebrating his own triumph. The victory marked a significant milestone for Pendrith, who had previously secured a runner-up finish in Detroit in 2022 and now claimed his first PGA Tour title after 74 starts.
