Taraba State set to host Beach Volleyball (2nd phase) Tour
Posted : 28 October 2023
All is set for the second phase of the 2023 Beach Volleyball Star Tour in Jalingo, Taraba State.
According to the Nigeria Volleyball Federation, more than 35 teams will compete on the sand from October 28 to November 5 at the Jolly Nyame Stadium.
DCP Stephen Hasso (RTD), the North East Zonal Representative on the board of NVBF, stated that the 10-day beach tour is a significant event on the federation's calendar, given the weight of international commitments that the country has later in the year.
Hasso explained that the tour will serve as a training program for the National U-21 players who are preparing for the World Beach Volleyball Championship in Thailand next November.
He said, "The Beach Tour will commence today, and I am pleased to announce that more than 35 teams will participate in the second phase."
"If you consult the FIVB calendar, you'll see that we have several international championships, and this tour will serve as a training opportunity for our players who are going to the World Championship in Thailand."
Hasso praised the Taraba State Government, led by Dr. Agbu Kefas, for their support in hosting the beach tour.
He said, "Taraba State has become the new home of beach volleyball. Governor Agbu Kefas has shown a strong commitment to developing volleyball and other sports in the state."
National coaches Francis Imoudu and John Iwerima will be present to observe the event and may extend trial invitations to deserving players for subsequent national camps.
