In the VICTOR Denmark Open 2023 quarterfinals, sixth-seeded Marin secured her spot by overcoming Sung Shuo Yun in a fiercely contested Round of 16 match, with a final score of 22-20, 22-20 after 57 minutes of intense play.
This marked Marin's first full match in Odense, as her initial opponent, Gao Fang Jie, retired in the first round with Marin leading 11-8. On the other side, Tai defeated Busanan Ongbamrungphan with a score of 22-20, 21-12.
Anticipating the upcoming showdown, Tai, seeded fourth and leading 11-10 in their head-to-head encounters, stated that she and Marin have a history of facing each other, making it a tough but thrilling battle to watch and play.
She looks forward to giving her best on the court. Marin, who is a year older than Tai at 30, acknowledged that her performance against Sung may not have been ideal but emphasized the importance of fighting until the end, expressing her desire for a better feeling in the upcoming match.
The first encounter between Marin and Tai took place at the 2014 World Championships, where Marin emerged victorious. This year, they have clashed three times, with Marin winning two of those encounters and Tai claiming the most recent one in the China Open quarterfinals.
Marin hopes to showcase a great performance in their upcoming match, while Tai recognizes the challenge presented by Marin's complete game and remarkable speed on the court, despite her return from a serious injury.
