Defending champions Safety Babes are cruising towards an unprecedented fourth consecutive premier handball league title following an impressive victory over Plateau Peacocks on Day 8 of the Ardova Handball Premier League 2024 Phase 2 in Lagos.
Owned by the Federal Road Safety Corps, Safety Babes remain the best among the top teams in the Ardova Handball League. They lead the women’s category by a commanding 7 points ahead of Defender Babes. They secured another dominant win, defeating the 2018 champions Plateau Peacocks 40-28.

It would take an extraordinary mishap for them not to make history by clinching their fourth consecutive league title.
In other matches in the women’s category, Rivers Queens triumphed in the South-South derby with a hard-fought 30-29 victory, while Seasider Babes of Lagos stunned Rima Queens with a narrow 23-22 win.
COAS Babes temporarily moved out of the relegation zone with a 39-29 victory over bottom-placed Bendel Dynamos, while Defender Babes solidified their second position in the league with an important 40-26 win over Imo Grasshoppers.
In the men’s category, Benue Buffaloes comfortably defeated D.Defenders 30-19, and Corrections Boys dominated Sunshine Kings with a 40-25 win.
Second-placed Rima Strikers are piling pressure on league leaders Tojemarine HC after securing a 29-24 victory over Seasider Boys of Lagos, while Kano Pillars dug deep to edge Adamawa Warriors 33-32.
Defending champions Niger United also faced a tough challenge but managed to overcome Safety Shooters 23-22.
