Rory McIlroy, the Northern Irishman, feels that winning the Scottish Open in challenging links golf conditions was the perfect preparation for The Open this week. McIlroy, who won his only Claret Jug at Royal Liverpool in 2014, is aiming to end his nine-year drought in major championships.
McIlroy expressed his satisfaction with his performance at the Scottish Open, especially in the tough final two holes, where he birdied both to secure a one-shot victory over Bob MacIntyre. He believes that the experience of handling difficult conditions will serve him well in future tournaments.
Returning to Hoylake, where he achieved one of his major victories, McIlroy reminisces about his remarkable 2014 triumph and the accolades he received for his achievements at such a young age. Despite numerous victories on other tours, he is eager to add to his major title count.
With his game in good shape and boosted by the recent Scottish Open victory, McIlroy is hopeful and determined to contend for another major championship win at The Open.
