Rivers Whales' Efosa Austin Obosa has qualified for the quarter-finals in the Men's Singles of the 2024 Teqball Championship World Qualifier at Enyimba International Stadium in Aba, Abia State.
On Day One of the event, Efosa Obosa defeated Joshua Musa of Imo State 2-1 before losing 0-2 to Nigeria's number one Teqball player, Victor Ademoye Oyemade from Delta State.
Obosa bounced back from the setback by defeating Team Rivers' Pleasant Chima to advance to the quarter-finals of the Championship, where he will face Tobi Mejedi of Abia State on Day Two of the event.
Meanwhile, Team Rivers' Pleasant Chima, Stanley Okwuwuodu, and Edidiong Emmanuel have all been eliminated from the Men's Singles category of the Championship.
Rivers Whales are participating in all five categories of the competition: Men's Singles, Women's Singles, Men's Doubles, Women's Doubles, and Mixed Doubles events.
The competition will conclude on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at Aba Sports Club, Aba.
Teqball is structured similar to table tennis, with two teams or individuals on opposite ends of the table, aiming to score points by volleying a football back and forth to their opponents.
