Posted : 12 July 2024

Captain of the Rivers Whales Teqball team, Ibinabo Alex Georgewill, has qualified for the Women's Singles final of the 2024 Teqball Championship World Qualifier at the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba, Abia State.

On Day Two of the event, Ibinabo Georgewill defeated Onah Oluchi Joy of Enugu State 2-1 in the Women’s Singles semi-finals to advance to the final.

The Whales skipper will next face Nigeria’s female number one, Rashidat Bukola Salal of Abia State, in the final. Rashidat Bukola is also the Mixed Doubles number one in Africa.

Meanwhile, Team Rivers' hopeful in the Men's Singles, Efosa Obosa, was eliminated in the quarter-finals 2-1 by Tobi Mejedi of Abia State.

In the Men's Doubles, both pairs, Stanley Okwuwuodu/Edidiong Emmanuel and Ahanmisi Keston Friday/Pleasant Chima, could not make it past the group stages of the event.

Rivers Whales are participating in all five categories of the competition: Men's Singles, Women's Singles, Men's Doubles, Women's Doubles, and Mixed Doubles events.

The competition will end on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at the Aba Sports Club, Aba.

Teqball is played like table tennis, with two separate teams or individuals on either end of the table, attempting to win points by hitting a football back and forth against their opponents.
