Prior to the Ryder Cup in 2023, Rory Mcilroy Announces the Return of the BMW PGA Championship

The BMW PGA Championship, the final Rolex Series competition before the Ryder Cup, runs from September 14 to 17. Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry will both compete at Wentworth and are set to represent Team Europe in Italy later that month.

The BMW PGA Championship will be held at Wentworth in September, and Rory McIlroy and the reigning winner Shane Lowry have both confirmed his participation.
"I always love playing at the BMW PGA Championship, and I've had some great results and performances round the West Course in the past," McIlroy said. "I started 2023 with a win in Dubai, and Wentworth is a place where I would like to add another title."

The current Race to Dubai champion placed second to Lowry in last year's competition and has four other top-10 finishes at the DP World Tour's marquee event.

The previous week, McIlroy had already committed to competing in the Irish Open. The back-to-back DP World Tour tournaments would serve as his penultimate opportunity to train for the Ryder Cup, which he would likely play in for Team Europe for the eighth time in a row later that month in Italy.
