Tour de France champion Tadej Pogacar is preparing for the upcoming Road World Championships later this month, aiming to secure his first title at the event. Fresh off his victory at the Grand Prix Cycliste de Montreal, the 25-year-old Slovenian cyclist expressed increased confidence heading into the competition, noting that his recent win has boosted both his motivation and belief. Pogacar, who also claimed his third Tour de France title this July, is chasing cycling’s elusive "Triple Crown," a feat achieved by only two riders in history—Eddy Merckx and Stephen Roche.
Despite the challenge, Pogacar is optimistic about his chances, especially considering the course for this year’s championships, which he believes suits him better than last year's, where he finished third in Glasgow. With two weeks remaining until the event, he plans to focus on a few more training sessions to fine-tune his performance and enter the race in peak condition. However, Pogacar acknowledged the unpredictable nature of the World Championships, stating that everything must align perfectly for a rider to win.
The 2024 Road World Championships will be held from September 21-29 in Zurich, Switzerland, where Pogacar hopes to add another prestigious title to his already impressive career.
