Posted : 01 September 2024

Szymon Pietraszek and Jakub Krzeminski clinched the 2024 U19 Beach Volleyball World Championship title in a thrilling final held in Shangluo, China. The Polish duo secured a narrow victory over Latvia's Matiss Salkovskis and Karlis Jaundzeikars, winning in straight sets with scores of 25-23 and 21-19.

This win marks Poland’s fifth title in the history of the event and their first since 2012. Pietraszek and Krzeminski's impressive performance included a series of nine consecutive victories from the qualifiers to the final, showcasing their resilience and skill throughout the tournament.

Pietraszek and Krzeminski, who also achieved a silver medal at the Krakow Futures in June, celebrated their remarkable triumph after a challenging tournament. Krzeminski expressed his joy and relief, highlighting the difficult path from the qualifiers to winning the gold medal.

Pietraszek echoed this sentiment, emphasizing their hard work over the past year and expressing gratitude to their support team. Despite their victory, both players are focused on future tournaments and continuing their development in the sport.

In the bronze medal match, Iran's AmirAli GhalehNovi and Habib AkbarzadehKashani overcame Mexico's Ines Antonio Vargas Lares and Carlos Andres Ayala Herrera in a dramatic three-set match. The Iranian pair, making their first major international appearance, secured the bronze with a 2-1 win, with scores of 21-15, 19-21, and 15-6. This marks Iran's first-ever medal at a U19 World Championship, and GhalehNovi praised their training and support team for their success.

Latvia’s Salkovskis and Jaundzeikars, despite falling short in the final, made a notable impression with their silver medal finish. Salkovskis and Jaundzeikars had a strong tournament run, starting from the qualifiers and reaching the final after eight wins. Both players expressed gratitude for their support and acknowledged the need for further improvement to secure a future victory.
