Phiwe Nomlomo has been appointed as head coach of the Vodacom Bulls for the upcoming 2024 Carling Currie Cup campaign, bringing with him a wealth of experience and a strong coaching team. Alongside him are Werner Kruger, Jean Tiedt, and Kennedy Tsimba, each focusing on different aspects of the team: Kruger overseeing the forwards, Tiedt managing the defense, and Tsimba, a World Rugby Hall of Fame inductee, directing the backline.
Nomlomo expressed his gratitude for the opportunity, emphasizing the honour and responsibility of leading the Bulls in a competition that holds significant importance in South African rugby. He highlighted the chance to showcase the team’s talent and engage with fans during the traditional winter season matches held across various regions.
With the Carling Currie Cup set to commence on July 7th, Nomlomo acknowledged the tight timeframe to finalize preparations following the Varsity Cup Rugby Challenge. Having joined the Vodacom Bulls in 2023 as an assistant coach, Nomlomo brings a background that includes coaching roles with the Sharks, the SA Schools A side, and leadership of the EP Kings academy.
