PGA Tour players feel betrayed by merger with Saudi Arabia

Jon Rahm, currently ranked number two in the world, has stated that many PGA Tour players feel betrayed by the management following the announcement of the proposed merger with Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund.
Rahm himself learned about the news through text messages and described his reaction as overwhelming, considering it made him want to avoid his phone for a while.
Despite a week passing since the shocking news, there is still limited information available regarding the PGA Tour's plans and the future of LIV Golf, the PIF-funded start-up that has caused divisions in the golfing community.
The US Senate is investigating the deal due to concerns over PIF's ties to the Saudi government and the sudden change in the PGA Tour's stance on LIV Golf. PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan, who previously criticized the Saudi regime when LIV was seen as a threat, faced backlash during a heated players meeting, with calls for his resignation and accusations of hypocrisy.
Rahm acknowledged that the players' voices were heard during the past year but expressed disappointment in the lack of answers from management.
While Rahm understood the need for secrecy to prevent media leaks, he highlighted the uncertainty and feeling of betrayal among players caused by the sudden announcement. He acknowledged that he is not an expert in business matters, unlike some individuals involved in the decision-making process.
Currently focused on competing in the US Open, Rahm emphasized the desire for faith in management but recognized the prevailing dissent among players.
