Spain's Pablo Castrillo overcame significant pain to clinch his second stage victory at the Vuelta a España on Sunday, winning Stage 15. The Kern-Pharma rider excelled on the challenging Cuitu Negru climb, making a decisive move with three kilometers remaining in the 143-kilometer route from Infiesto to Valgrane-Pajares.
In the final stretch, Castrillo looked back to see Aleksandr Vlasov of Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe closing in through the fog, but he managed to dig deep and secure the win. Vlasov finished in second place, with France's Pavel Sivakov taking third.
Meanwhile, three-time champion Primoz Roglic finished fifth, gaining 38 seconds on the race leader, Ben O'Connor. The Australian retains a narrow lead of 43 seconds as the Vuelta heads into its final week.
