Osun United Handball Club has secured their place in next season's Ardova Premier League after a thrilling semi-final victory over Vipers Handball Club of Plateau State.
The match, held at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, ended with a score of 22-20 in favor of the Imole Boys.
Under the leadership of Coach Taiwo Joshua Aogo, Osun United led the first half 12-10 and maintained their lead to secure the win and the coveted promotion spot.
They will now face COAS (Nigerian Army Handball Club) in the final tomorrow to determine the winners of this year’s National Division One Handball League season.
Having emerged as group leaders in Group D, Osun United had earlier defeated Bayelsa Kings on Match Day 1, followed by victories over Confluence Snappers of Kogi State and Imo Lions, maintaining a perfect record.
Their semi-final win against Vipers Handball Club sealed their promotion to the Ardova Premier League, the pinnacle of handball competition in Nigeria.
In the women's category, Ekiti Queens and Omo Ogiefo Academy of Edo State also made history by securing their promotion to the Ardova Handball Premier League. Ekiti Queens earned a crucial 23-20 victory over Coal City Babes, while Omo Ogiefo Academy comfortably defeated Abia Valiants 14-8.
The women's final between Ekiti Queens and Omo Ogiefo Academy will be played on Friday to determine the champion of the National Division One League 2024.
