Osun State agog for Nigeria Western Region Youth Baseball5 Tournament

The Osun State Baseball and Softball Association, having been awarded the right to host the Nigeria Western Region Youth Baseball5 Tournament, is now alive with anticipation as the tournament is set to kick off today at Osogbo Township Stadium.


The championship is expected to run from Thursday, June 6, 2024, to Sunday, June 9, 2024.


The regional tournament, which will culminate in a national tournament, is an avenue to discover and select players from around the country to represent Nigeria at the 2024 West Africa Youth Baseball5 Tournament, which will be hosted in Nigeria.


Teams and officials from the southwestern states of Nigeria—Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Ekiti, and Ondo—have arrived in Osun State to join Team Osun for the four-day tournament.


The opening ceremony, however, is scheduled for Friday, June 7, 2024.


Expected at the opening ceremony are the General Manager of Osun State Sports Council, Mr. Rotimi Dunmoye; the Southwest Coordinator for the Nigeria Baseball and Softball Federation, Mr. Kunle Ajayi; the Director of Sports, Coaching, and Training of Osun State Sports Council, Mr. Ademola Daini; and the Director of Sports Organization, Mrs. Ronke Ogunbanwo, among other dignitaries.
