The President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation, Engineer Musa Nimrod, has revealed that the annual beach volleyball tour initiated during his tenure is yielding positive results.
Nimrod made this statement following Nigeria's triumph at the 2024 African U-19 Girls Beach Volleyball Nations Championship in Morocco.
Nimrod, who also serves as Chairman of the Control Committee for the 2024 African U-19 Boys Beach Volleyball Nations Championship, emphasized that the beach volleyball tour provided beach players with more playing time and prepared Nigeria for international championships.
He encouraged state and private clubs in the country to support the growth of beach volleyball by organizing mini-tournaments and presenting them for the Beach Tour and President's Cup.
As a member of the CAVB Beach Commission, he stated, "I am excited that Nigeria is reaping the dividends of the beach volleyball tour. Nigeria has a pool of players from which we can select over the next two decades, which is why the Nigeria Beach Volleyball Commission has decided to invest in the beach tour."
"Esther Mbah, a National Youth Games champion, President's Beach Volleyball Cup winner, and Nigeria Beach Tour champion, rose through the ranks to become the U-19 Beach Volleyball Champion and African Games bronze medalist. Pamela Bawa (15 years old) is also a gold medalist at the annual National Youth Games."
"Victor Eze, U-19 Boys Bronze medalist, has consistently participated in the President's Cup and Beach Tour with Kada Stars. We have many young players from various clubs across the country who have actively participated in beach volleyball tournaments."
"I want to assure you that this year's edition of the Beach Volleyball Tour will be bigger and better because our ambassadors who represented Nigeria at the Olympic qualifiers, U-19 Boys and Girls African Nations Championships, have shown that our performances are not mere luck."
"Now is the time for volleyball associations with natural beaches in their states to organize mini beach volleyball competitions that will attract more youth and corporate sponsors to partner with them."
"The government cannot do this alone, which is why we encourage selfless individuals to support their volleyball associations."
