NPFL23: Over 100 golfers jostle for N1.5M prize money

The Ikoyi Club 1938 Golf Section in Lagos will be alive once again from March 23 to 25 for an event with not less than 100 professionals expected to be in action.
Tagged “Custodian Classic 2023” with N10 million purse, 100 professionals according to the organisers will slug it out in 54 holes round for N1.5 million top prize.
In the same vein, first runner-up gets N700, 000 and the second runner-up gets N600, 000 and over the course of the three days, the prizes are awarded in that sequence.
The Custodian Classic is an event under the Professional Golf Development program (PGD), and registration for the one-field event with different tee boxes commenced on Monday, March 6.
In a similar spirit, only amateur players in the Ikoyi Club Golf Section Category-1 are permitted to compete in the event, and all of the candidates must be from Ikoyi club.
Interested players are requested to check the tour website www.pgdtour.org for further information, just as official practice begins Wednesday March 22, but can as well make alternative practice arrangement with the PGA of Nigerian players at Ikoyi.
Meanwhile, attention will be focused on PGA of Nigeria stars like Francis Epe, the Ghanaian duo of Vincent Torgah and Emos Korblah, as well as the resurgent Willy Gift and Andrew Oche Odoh.
At the recent ACUTECH Pro-Am which held at Ikeja Golf Club, Lagos in between January 30 and February 1, Korblah came tops on 3-over par; Willy second on 4-over par and Odoh third on 5-over par.
While Epe won at Lakowe Meristem Open which held from January 26-28 with 9-under par, Torgah was second with 6-under par and Olapade third with 4-under par.
