Nigeria’s David, Prestige emerge winners at PANASA/AYSC U-19

Nigeria’s Ojih David and Archibong Prestige finished at the top of the U-19 and U-15 standing respectively as the curtain of the maiden Pan African Scrabble Association, PANASA/ Winifred Awosika Foundation African Youth Scrabble Championship, AYSC falls.

The duo competed among 88 African Scrabble youth players from five countries; Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Uganda, and Nigeria, the host.

David’s road to the top came through after 24 rounds of exchange of intensive mind game challenge, which he won 19 and lost 5 with a cummulative score spread of plus 2022.

The Nigerian youngster had since day two of the four days of the tournament secured the top position.

The battle for the second position witnessed a keenly contest mind game challenge between Nigeria’s U-19 Ola Joy and Musa Lateef as the former occupied the third position while the latter was on the second position.

But Joy determination to fight for the second position came through after she won Musa Lateef in her last game, finishing the tournament with 18 wins and 7 losses with a cummulative score spread of plus 1097.

Musa finished on the third position with 17 wins and 8 losses, with a cummulative score spread of plus 1012.

At the U-15, Archibong Prestige finished at the top of the standing after the completion of round 19.

Prestige maintained the top position since day two, and he climbed the steps to return to the top. He won 16 games and lost two with a cummulative score spread of plus 2614.

The current standing showed that Nigeria’s Aliu Qudus sits on the second position after he finished with 13 wins and 5 lost with a cummulative score spread of plus 1358.

Nigeria’s Imode Clinton on the third position with 12 wins and 6 losses with a cummulative score spread of plus 1882.
