Nigeria set for Final of IHF Trophy Africa Men Continental Phase

Nigeria will play in the final of the IHF Trophy Africa Men Continental Phase following their hard-fought 44-33 victory over Cameroon in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.


The defending champions, led by Coach Emeka Nnamani, battled against a defensively-minded Cameroon side from the first whistle, scoring mainly from the wings and fast-breaks to win the first half 22-15 despite the challenges.

The second half continued in the same manner, with left-back Christian Foloki Bolaji dictating play with crucial goals from the 9-meter line and the wings, securing a 44-33 victory.


Foloki, who was injured in the final minute after a collision with Cameroon's goalkeeper, was voted the Most Valuable Player of the match.


Speaking after the match, Coach Emeka Nnamani praised his team for their hard-fought effort against Cameroon and for doing everything possible to reach the final once again.


"I am very excited that we did enough to defeat Cameroon in the semifinal.


"I want to praise the boys for doing everything humanly possible and for fighting hard against Cameroon."


"Now we will make sure we do our best in the final to qualify for the Intercontinental phase," Coach Emeka Nnamani said.


Nigeria will now play Guinea in the final on Wednesday at 3 pm Nigeria time.
