A total of 18 players have resumed camp ahead of the 2024 IHF Trophy Africa Zone 3 Phase in Ghana from 20th to 24th February, as confirmed by an official from the Handball Federation of Nigeria.
According to the Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN), the players are currently training at the Rowe Park Sports Centre in Yaba, Lagos, under the guidance of Coach Fidelis Obi.
Faruk Yusuf (Club Balonmano Granollers), who won the Most Valuable Player award against Cameroon at the recently concluded African Nations Cup, made the 18-man list, while the new sensation, John Shagari (Niger United), was not left out.
Former National U-18 stars, Akorede Kuti (TojeMarine), Olumide Ojo (Adidja HC), and Kareem Ajibike (TojeMarine), will be hoping to cement their place in the Junior National team.
The head coach, Fidelis Obi, will be assisted by Innocent Chukwuma (Safety Shooters).
Nigeria will begin their title defense against Liberia on February 20th while seeking to improve their performance at the continental stage.
