The Head Coach of the Niger United Handball team, Yekini Adebayo, restated the club's ambition to be crowned winners of the 2023 Ardova Handball Premier League on Tuesday.
In an exclusive interview, Adebayo disclosed that his team would continue to strive to regain its lost position in the second phase of the ongoing 2023 Ardova Handball Premier League.
Adebayo mentioned that his players are determined and focused on lifting the 2023 trophy. He stated that having won the league in 2018, the team would continue to work hard to emerge as the champion of this year's league.
"We topped the table in the first phase of the league, and now we are also leading in the second phase. We pray that God should help us so that we will win all our remaining matches. We have played six matches so far, and we won all. Presently, we are first on the table, and Tojemarine Handball Club is second. They are the only team we see as our rival. We are playing against them on the last day of the competition, and we will ensure that we defeat them to lift the trophy," he said.
"My players are determined to win this year's league. I will encourage them to continue working hard, be disciplined, and with dedication, our dream will come true," he said.
The second phase of the 2023 Ardova Handball Premier League, which started on Nov. 14, is expected to end on Nov. 25.
The sixth season of the league, with a new title sponsor, Ardova PLC, will see an increase in the preparatory subsidy of 500,000 naira for each of the 22 teams.
The winners of the female and male teams will receive a prize money of 2.5 million naira.
