New York Giants sign Barkley to $11 million contract, guaranteeing $10.1 million and offering incentives

Running back Saquon Barkley and the New York Giants have reached an agreement on a one-year contract worth up to $11 million, with a $2 million signing bonus included, according to confirmed sources.
The new deal ensures Barkley $10.1 million fully guaranteed, with the signing bonus also factored in. Additionally, the contract offers $1 million in incentives, contingent on specific achievements such as 1,300 rushing yards, 11 touchdowns, and 65 receptions.
Notably, the agreement lacks a "no franchise tag" clause, allowing the Giants to potentially tag Barkley again after this season if necessary.
Last week, Barkley hinted at the possibility of not playing this season due to the contract stalemate with the team over a long-term deal.
However, both parties failed to reach a resolution before the deadline for franchised players to secure long-term contracts. Consequently, Barkley would have been compelled to play the current season under the $10.091 million franchise tender.
Despite the earlier uncertainties, Barkley has already reported to Giants training camp, which commences on Tuesday for veterans.
The 26-year-old showcased a remarkable performance last season, ranking fourth in the NFL with a career-high 1,312 rushing yards and scoring 10 touchdowns while matching the team lead with 57 receptions.
Since being the No. 2 overall draft pick in 2018, Barkley has appeared in 60 career games over five seasons, earning the title of Offensive Rookie of the Year in his debut season.
