Nelly Korda Stays Positive Amid Form Dip Ahead of Women's PGA Championship

Posted : 19 June 2024

World No. 1 Nelly Korda is undeterred by her recent dip in form as she aims for her third major title at this week's Women's PGA Championship in Washington state. Despite missing cuts at the US Women's Open and the LPGA Meijer Classic, Korda remains optimistic as she prepares to navigate the tight fairways of Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish, where precision is key.

Rather than dwelling on her struggles, Korda focuses on the positives, believing that ups and downs are part of the game. She emphasizes the importance of maintaining a positive outlook, stating that such experiences help her grow and appreciate the sport and its triumphs even more.

Accuracy off the tee is crucial at Sahalee, but Korda plans to stick with her aggressive style, using her driver frequently to avoid longer approach shots. She acknowledges that some holes require a different strategy, but for the most part, she intends to play boldly on the demanding 6,731-yard, par-72 course.

Korda also avoids overanalyzing her game, preferring to adapt as she plays. She believes in responding to the course conditions and her form on the day, rather than rigidly sticking to a pre-determined plan. Additionally, Korda has one eye on the upcoming Paris Olympics, looking forward to defending her gold medal and experiencing the city.
