NCF announces plans for improved preparations for victorious Yellow Greens

The Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) has announced further preparations for the national team, the Yellow Green, after their victory in the maiden West Africa Trophy on Sunday, October 15, at the Tafawa Balewa Square Oval in Lagos.
The Yellow Green of Nigeria defeated their Rwandan opponents by 17 runs in the final after scoring 108 runs to restrict their opponents to 86, winning the continental competition.
The Nigerian team finished the competition unbeaten, winning all ten games played in a multiple round-robin format.
The NCF organized the tournament to prepare the Greens for the T20 World Cup 2024 Qualifying in Namibia next month.
An elated NCF president, Mr. Uyi Akpata, explained that stiffer opposition would be lined up to put the Greens in top form ahead of the Namibian World Cup Qualifying.
“We intend to travel to one of the key African countries with conditions similar to Namibia, top players are there, but at the end of the day, I can't reveal it because the board needs to approve it when we have our meeting on November 10.”
Revealing his expectations from the Nigerian squad at the World Cup Qualifying, Mr. Akpata kept it modest.
“Mine is to be sure we are in that stage; most of the countries are ranked ahead of us, and two teams qualify,” he said.
“I think we have an outside chance; it will be an early Christmas bonus for us or a present for me if we do qualify.
“But at the end of the day, it's progress. I like what we are doing; most of these guys, I mean the average age of this team is about 20, 22, so it just shows the future is good because that's what I am interested in,” Akpata humbly put it.
The Nigeria Greens, who are on a one-week break, will regroup after resting to continue preparations for the T20 Cricket World Cup final Qualifying scheduled from November 20 to December 1.
