Navy Captain Sunday Haruna's triumph at the Nigeria Military School ex-boys Association golf tournament marks a significant achievement in his golfing career. Held at the prestigious Tukur Yusuf Buratai Golf Course in Abuja, this one-day event showcased the skill and precision of some of the country's finest golfers. Haruna, with a handicap of 8, demonstrated his prowess by scoring an impressive 77 gross and netting 68, securing his victory in the 2024 NMS @70 Golf competition.


The championship was inaugurated by the Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla and TY Buratai, highlighting the prestigious nature of the event. As part of the commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the NMS Ex-boys Association establishment, this tournament brought together golf enthusiasts from diverse backgrounds. Among the participants were 50 ex-boys who not only cherished their alma mater but also shared a passion for the game of golf.


The NMS Ex-boys Association organized this event to celebrate the rich legacy of the Nigeria Military School, Zaria. Alongside the golf tournament, the anniversary featured various sporting activities, including a highly anticipated 5-aside football tournament named the Ogalla Cup. Scheduled to take place between May 17th and 19th, 2024, at the Ahmed Musa Center in Kaduna, this football competition promises to be an exciting affair, bringing together athletes and fans alike.


In addition to showcasing sporting talent, the anniversary served as an opportunity for fundraising to support the school's initiatives. An impressive total of Twenty-nine million, Six hundred and thirty thousand naira (#29,630,000) was generously donated during the emblem-launching ceremony in Abuja. These funds will contribute to the ongoing development and enhancement of facilities at the Nigeria Military School, ensuring that future generations of students continue to receive a quality education.


Haruna's victory not only reflects his individual skill but also symbolizes the camaraderie and competitive spirit that defines the NMS community. As ex-boys and supporters come together to celebrate the school's legacy, events like the golf tournament serve as reminders of the enduring bonds forged through shared experiences and passions.
