The 2024 National Division One Handball League commenced on Monday, July 15, with excitement and thrills as Aidia Academy, Osun, Desert Warriors, and others got off to a winning start inside the Multipurpose Sports Hall of the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin.
The 2024 National Division One Handball League lived up to its hype as handball lovers and fans came out in large numbers to cheer for their teams, whose impressive skills kept spectators entertained.
In the opening match of the day in the men's category, Bendel Dynamos lost 21-22 to COAS Shooters in a well-contested game.
In other matches, Mindscope Academy triumphed 19-15 over Osun, while Aidia Academy also won 22-21 against Cherubim & Seraphim Academy. Desert Warriors came out stronger than Omo-Ogiefo, defeating them 18-13 in the women's category.
Abia Valiant also showed their superiority by beating Police Machine 20-17 in their opening match.
Funad humbled Gboko Dream, winning 14-12 in the men's category. Ekiti lost to Omo-Ogifo 21-22 in the women's match, just as Bayelsa surrendered to Osun 17-19.
Action continues on Tuesday, with many matches lined up for the second day of the 2024 Handball Division One League in Benin.
All participating teams and officials arrived at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City on Sunday, July 14, 2024, for accreditation and clearance, paving the way for an early kickoff on Monday morning.
